Mitek Acquires Spanish Company, ICAR
San Diego-based Mitek, which develops mobile capture and digital identity verification software, said on Monday that it has acquired Spanish consumer identification software developer ICAR. Mitek said it paid approximately $15.0M in cash and shares of its common stock for ICAR. ICAR provides its consumer identification products in Spain and Latin America. ICAR's customers include banks including Caixa Bank, Banco Neon, and Bancoppel, as well as others.

Unity Influence Gets $1M For Influencer Marketing
Los Angeles- and South San Francisco-based Unity Influence, a developer of influencer advertising software, has raised $1M in funding, according to the company. Source of the funding was not announced. Unity Influence is using machine learning and artificial intelligence tools to connect advertisers with "micro-influencers". The company was founded by Jacobo Lumbreras and Patrick Ip.

TrueCar Links With Ford, Sam's Club On Auto Promotion
Santa Monica-based TrueCar is powering a big promotion for Ford and Sam's Club, the companies said today, where Ford will offer up exclusive discounts on its vehicles to Sam's Club members. Truecar operates the Sam's Club Auto Buying Program. The companies said Sam's Club members who register with the companies will get $500 in a bonus cash incentive, on top of already discounted member pricing for Ford vehicles. Beauty Bakerie Finds $3M In Seed From Unilever
San Diego-based beauty brand Beauty Bakerie, a developer of cosmetics aimed at Millennials, has raised $3M in a seed funding. The funding was led by Unilever Ventures. Beauty Bakerie was founded by CEO Cashmere Nicole, who founded the brand in 2011.

Militus Raises Series A Funding
Irvine-based Militus Cyber, a developer of cybersecurity appliances ‎itused for detecting malware and advanced persistent threats on computer networks, has raised a Series A funding round. Size of the funding was not announced. The company said the funding came from private equity firm CyberSEC3, which focuses on early stage cybersecurity and information security firms. Militus is led by CEO Paul Manley.

Smith Micro Deploys Family Safety App On Sprint
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro says it has launched a new, family safety app called SafePath Family on Sprint. According to Smith Micro, the launch is its first deployment of its family location and parental controls platform by a U.S. wireless operator. Financial impact of the deal was not announced, however, Smith Micro said it expects a "positive material impact" on both its top line and bottom line in 2018 and beyond.

Karma Gets $4.1M In Pre-ICO Offering, Adds Ryan Scott To Board
Los Angeles-based Karma, a company developing blockchain technology, said Friday that it has raised $4.1M out of a $5M pre-sale goal for its token sale, and also added Ryan Scott to its advisory board. Karma said it is developing a proprietary membership and event management platform based on Blockchain. Separately, the company said Ryan Scott has joined its advisory board; Scott is an angel investor and is the founder of Causecast. Zyxel Rolls Out Wi-Fi Mesh System
Anaheim-based Zyxel said thisd morning that it has launched a brand new, mesh Wi-Fi system, designed for providing reliable Wi-Fi coverage in homes. According to Zyxel, its new Multy X AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi System creates a single, wireless network throughout a home by connecting multiple Multy X nodes together into a mesh, using a dedicated 5 GHz connection supporting MU-MIMO. The system has a street price of $299.99.
