News Corp Buys Verisign's Jamba For $188M




News Corporation is buying VeriSign's mobile entertainment subsidiary Jamba, the companies said today, in a deal worth $188M. News Corp said it will combine VeriSign's Jamba subsidiary and combine it with Fox Mobile Entertainment assets, to form a new Los Angeles-based joint venture, which will also have operations in Berlin. The new company will produce, market, sell, and distribute mobile content. Jamba provides mobile content, including ringtones, graphics, and animation for cell phones. News Corp said that the first two projects for Jamba will by a MySpace MObile Store, which will allow MySpace users to download ringtones, graphics, and animations from music and media companies; and exclusive mobile content from the FOX series, The Simpsons.
