Nexsan Takes New Angle On Storage: Energy Rebates

Thousand Oaks-based Nexsan is taking a new angle on getting customers to buy its disk storage products, saying Wednesday that ita has qualified for a program with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) where its customer can gain incentives from the utility, for implementing its power-efficient storage products. Nexsan said that customers who buy its SATABoy and SATABeast disk storage systems, which include its AutoMAID technology for automatically powering down disk drives, can get energy incentives from PG&E. The size and details of the incentives were not disclosed by Nexsan, but said channel partner Boost Peripheral Systems is helping to deploy its storage in areas which can qualify for PG&E's incentives. Nexsan said its technology helps lower energy and cooling costs by up to 70 percent compared with conventional storage arrays.
