Novatel Wireless Shuffles Executives

San Diego-based Novatel Wireless announced a major, executive shakeup late Friday, saying that it has named Alex Mashinsky Interim Chief Executive Officer, and has launched a search for a new CEO. According to the company, it's current CEO, Peter Laparulo, will continue to serve on the board. In addition, the company said it has promoted Slim Soussi, CTO of the company, to President and Chief Operating Officer. Novatel Wireless said it has engaged an executive search firm to help find a new CEO. The company did not give a reason for the big shift. Mashinsky only joined Novatel's board in April, and had been at investment company GOverning Dynamics; he also founded and headed up GroundLink.
