OpusData Takes On Movie Data APIs

Beverly Hills-based Nash Information Services, the company behind The Numbers, a data information service providing the latest movie industry box office information, said today that it has launched a new service, OpusData. According to Nash, OpusData allows users to access financial data information on over 15,000 movies, including budgets, domestic and international box office, domestic DVD sales, and biographical information. The new service allows users to access the data via widgets and APIs, for a monthly fee.

Nash Information Services said the service also provides biographical information on over 18,000 actors, directors, producers and technicians. Bruce Nash, the head of Nash Information Services and the creator of The Numbers, told socalTECH he expects that researchers, independent developers, production companies, and publishers of mobile applications might be interested in programmatic access to the data. The Numbers offers up weekly box office gross receipts data and rankings, as well as total gross and information on movies.
