Overland Acquires Zetta Systems

San Diego-based Overland Storage has acquired Zetta Systems, a developer of real time data protection software, in a deal worth $9.0M in cash. The purchase moves overland from being a tape backup provider into the data storage software market. Overland said that Zetta Systems software will be integrated into its plan to offer a primary storage appliance. Zetta's software provides snapshot, replication, and thing provisioning technology for block and file-based storage, as well as failover capabilities. Zetta's 11 employees will remain in the Seattle area. Overland said that it expects the acquisition to be accretive in the first quarter of fiscal year 2007.
