Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a developer of Fibre Channel host bus adapters and switches, said yesterday afternoon that it is acquiring PathScale, a developer of Infiniband technology. QLogic said that it will pay approximately $109M in cash, along with assuming the outstanding unvested stock options of PathScale. PathScale is a provider of Host Channel Adapters (HCAs) and software for the Infiniband high performance fabric interconnect, used for clustering and blade servers. Pathscale is headquartered in Mountain View, and has received venture capital funding from Charles River Ventures, Enterprise Partners, ChevronTexaco, and others.
