QLogic Ships Infiniband Adapter Line

Aliso Viejo-based QLogic said Tuesday that it has begun shipping a new Infiniband host channel adapter (HCA). Infiniband HCAs are used to connect servers to Infiniband networks, which are being used for storage and high performance computing. According to QLogic, the new QLogic 7200 series adapters are shipping in volume, and offer what the firm describes as "the highest performing InfiniBand host channel adapter (HCA) in the industry." Infiniband is a protocol which has been adopted by oil companies, universities, government research labs and others for high performance, clustered computing. QLogic also manufactures storage area networking host-bus adapters, switches, other products.
