Qualcomm Buys Gesture Recognition Technology

San Diego-based Qualcomm announced this morning that it has acquired a number of gesture recognition assets from GestureTek, a developer of gesture recognition technology. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Qualcomm said the acquisition would give it ownership of intellectual property related to gesture recognition, plus engineering resources. The firm is integrating that gesture recognition technology into its line of Snapdragon processors. Qualcomm explained that GestureTek is retaining other assets to continue its gesture-controlled public display and digital signage products.
