Qualcomm Buys Semiconductor Design Firm

San Diego-based Qualcomm has made another acquisition, this time of Spike Technologies, a semiconductor design firm which specializes in deep submicron process technologies, circuit development, and design and verification engineering. Qualcomm will pay $19M in cash for the firm, which is headquartered in Milpitas but runs its design center in Bangalore India. Qualcomm said that Spike will be integrated into its Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) divison to help increase time to market for its 90 nanometer and below process technologies.
