RealD Inks Digital Cinema Deal

Los Angeles-based 3D technology provider RealD has inked a deal with a digital cinema server firm, the company said Wednesday. RealD said that Doremi Cinema LLC will integrate the firm's 3D EQ technology into Doremi's digital cinema servers. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. The deal helps RealD streamline its distribution, meaning that customers of Doremi will automatically get RealD's 3D capability when they install their digital cinema system, rather than going through another install of RealD's hardware. RealD's products connect to existing digital cinema systems to provide projection of 3D movies. RealD said that the 3D capabilities will be available on all new Doremi servers beginning in March of 2009, with retrofits of existing installations at the same time.
