RealD Signs Russian Customer

Los Angeles-based 3D movie technology provider RealD said today that it has signed a deal with a Russian cinema chain, Karo Films, to deploy 200 screens with its 3D technology. Financial impact of the win was not announced. RealD said it recently opened up an office in Moscow to help serve the Russian market. RealD said there are now approximately 22,200 films worldwide equipped with its technology. The new win comes as RealD said it has begun looking internationally for growth; the firm, in its quarterly results, said that 3D film growth has actually slowed, and that last quarter, the popularity of 2D films limited its financial results. RealD's results are tied in part to revenue sharing deals it has with theater chains, when 3D films are shown on its screens.
