Report: Amazon's Ring Collecting 911 Data
Santa Monica-based Ring, the surveillance doorbell network which is now owned by Amazon, is now looking to collect and aggregate real-time, 911 call information, according to a report from Gizmodo. According to the report, the 911 information is being pushed to nearby Ring users as "crime news". The cozy ties to law enforcement follow disclosure this week in a report from Motherboard that Ring is working closely with over 200 law enforcement agencies to make it easier for those departments to obtain video from Ring doorbell and security cameras, directly by requesting that video from the owners of those doorbells.
