Carlsbad-based SkinMedica, a venture backed cosmaceuticals firm developing skin care products, said Monday that it has acquired Colorescience, a makeup company developing science-based mineral makeups. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Skinmedica is venture backed by Apax Partners, Domain Associates, EuclidSR Partners, HealthCare Ventures, Montagu Newhall Associates, Montreux Equity Partners, Perseus-Soros BioPharmaceutical Fund, Split Rock Partners, and St. Paul Venture Capital. Colorscience develops a line of cosmetics which help camouflage skin issues, while providing sun protection.
