Sonendo Gets FDA Clearance
Laguna Hills-based ultrasonic cleaning device developer Sonendo announced this morning that it has received clearance from the FDA, for use of its products in root canal therapy. Sonendo, which is venture backed by OrbiMed Advisors LLC, Themes Investment Partners, Fjord Ventures, and NeoMed Management, said it has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its device, which it plans to launch in 2014. Sonendo said the clearance allows it to market the new medical device within the United States. Sonendo's medical device is being used for root canal therapy, using sound to simultaneously clean the entire root canal system as part of endodontic therapy.
