Sopheon Buys Alignent Software

Sopheon, a Minnesota-based software and services provider, said Monday morning that it has acquired Carlsbad-based Alignent Software, in a cash deal worth $5.5M. According to Sopheon, the deal includes $4.75M initially upon closing, plus $750,000 in potential earn out. Carlsbad-based Alignent develops product and technology roadmapping software used for strategic planning. The deal is expected to close on or about June 18. Alignent has previously raised $6M in venture capital funding from Horizon Ventures and Mission Ventures. According to Sopheon, Alignent had revenues of $3M and a net operating loss of $4.3M in 2006.
