SpaceX: Iridium-1 Launch Now Expected In Early January
Hawthorne, California-based space rocket developer SpaceX said this week that it is now expecting to return to flight in early January, with the launch of the Iridium-1 satellite. SpaceX, which announced the timeline in an update on the explosion (which SpaceX calls an "anomoly") that occurred earlier this year at Cape Canaveral, said the extension to January will give it additional time to close-out vehicle preparations and complete extended testing. Iridium announced last week that it hoped to launch its new satellite on December 16th from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The launch, when it does occur, should be visible from Santa Barbara, Ventura, and parts of Los Angeles county.
