StageIt Gets Funding To Help Broadcast Musicians
Los Angeles-based startup StageIt, which operates an online web platform which lets musicians interact with their fans through live broadcasts from their laptop, has raised a round of funding. The funding came from DEV (Digital Entertainment Ventures), a newly launched New York investment firm headed by Alan McGlade and Michael Yang. The funding was announced by DEV as part of its launch. Financial details of the funding were not disclosed. StageIt, which was founded by Evan Lowenstein, allows artists to informally broadcast everything from an impromptu jam to interviews and chats directly from their laptops, to offer up their fans with unique experiences. DEV's McGlade is the former CEO of MediaNet, and also founded The Box which he sold to MTV back in 2001; Yang was previously at Divine Interventures and Sandbox Industries.
