Tinder Users' Hot Date Night Hindered By Facebook Privacy Changes
Users of popular dating app Tinder might have just lost that opportunity for a hot date they were setting up tonight, after widespread privacy changes by Facebook on Wednesday apparently took some logins offline for Tinder users. Tinder--which is developed in Los Angeles--told users a "technical issue" was preventing logins into Tinder, and that it was working on the issue. The issues are apparently related to a clampdown on third party access to data on Facebook, through Facebook's event APIs, group APIs, Facebook logins, and many other aspects of data on Facebook. Those changes were put into place in response to the growing user backlash over the exposure of millions of user profiles with Cambridge Analytica, which reportedly used that data to influence the U.S. elections. Facebook said the Facebook data of 87 million users may have been provided to that company.
