TrackR Scores $8.7M To Track Your Stuff

Santa Barbara-based TrackR, founded by UC Santa Barbara graduates Chris Herbert and Christian Smith, has raised $8.7M in a funding round, to help people track all of their stuff. The funding round was led by Foundry Group. The startup develops a line of tags, stickers, and other sensors which users can put on any of their stuff, and immediately track those items using their smartphone. The startup is using the Bluetooth Low Enery (BLE) technology to power its low power tags, which have batteries which last up to a year. The company's apps run on both iOS and Android.
