TrueCar Bolsters Dealer Outreach With New VP

Santa Monica-based TrueCar said Friday that it has hired a new Vice President, Dealer Development, to bolster its efforts to retain and grow its network of dealer partners. The firm said it has hired Ken Potter, most recently VP and General Manager at Automotive for Internet Brands, to the new position. Potter was responsible for Internet Brands' CarsDirect.com site, and served at the firm for 11 years. Potter also has served as General Manager of two car dealerships, including CarMax. TrueCar said Potter will also manage field sales and inside account management teams for the company. TrueCar, which is led by Scott Painter, is disrupting the automobile buying landscape, by providing upfront pricing on new vehicles to buyers on a finely detailed configuration, as well as transparency of recent sales of similar vehicles in an area; enough that the firm has been under attack by dealers in a number of states on the legislative front.
