United Online Continues To See Dialup Shrink

Woodland Hills-based United Online reported its fourth quarter and full year 2009 results Wednesday afternoon, saying that its communications segment--which includes its dial-up ISP business--had a revenue drop of 19 percent in Q4 compared with Q4 of 2008, dropping to $48.4M from the prior year's $60.1M. The firm's overall revenues totaled $249.5M in Q4 of 2009, down from the $256.2M in revenues it reported for Q4 of 2008, but the firm reported a profit of $32.8M for the quarter. The drop in the firm's communications revenues were offset by a growth in its revenues from floral delivery service FTD, which were up 6% in the quarter compared to a year ago. United Online's Classmates Media revenues were $60.6M for Q4 of 2009, down 3% from year ago results of $62.6M.
