Verdezyne Breaks Ground On New Plant In Malaysia

Carlsbad-based synthetic biology developer Verdezyne announced this morning that it has broken ground on a new plant in Malaysia, which will produce renewable chemicals. According to Verdezyne, the plant is its first, commercial-scale renewable chemicals manufacturing facility. The facility will produce odecanedioic acid (DDDA), which the company explains is a 12-carbon diacid that is a component of many consumer products currently made from petroleum. The new plant uses a proprietary yeast developed by Verdezyne, which converts non-foot, palm biomass into DDDA, which is used for corrosion inhibition.
