Verve Wireless Signs More Media Firms, Launches Coupon Offering

San Diego-based Verve Wireless, which develops products to help newspapers publish their content to mobile phones, has signed on another set of newspapers, and rolled out a new coupon offering, the firm said late Wednesday. According to Verve, it has added the Chicago Sun-Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Time Out Chicago, Time Out New York and Metro International as partners. Financial impact of the new customers was not disclosed. Verve also said that it has launched a new mobile couponing application, which allows advertisers to send out coupons to mobile phones using location-based technology. The firm said the new coupon app allows publishers to advertise offers, based on time of day, neighborhood radius, a user's current location, and other context.
