Viddy Sees $6M

Venice, California-based Viddy, a developer of social video sharing applications for mobile phones, has raised $6M in a new funding round. The round was led by Battery Ventures, and also included Qualcomm and Greycroft Ventures. Viddy is headed by Brett O'Brien, best known for co-founding Xdrive. Viddy's prior investors include Sky Dayton, the founder of Earthlink/Boingo Wireless/, Jarl Mohn of Liberty Digital, and Christina Brodbeck, the first employee at Viddy's app allows users to shoot and share 15 second videos, which they can also apply visual effects to enhance.
