Irvine-based Vizio, the maker of HDTV display products, said this morning that it has launched its own tablet and smartphone products based on the Android platform. According to Vizio, its VIZIO VIA Tablet and VIZIO VIA Phone products are being rolled out at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. VIZIO said its tablet will run software from the Android market, and will feature a 1 Ghz processor, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a camera and HDMI outputs, among other features. The VIZIO VIA Phone includes similar features, as well as GPS and both a front and rear facing camera. Pricing on the new products has not been announced.
