WD Completes Sale of 3.5 Inch Hard Drive Assets




Irvine-based Western Digital Corp., the hard disk drive manufacturer, said this morning that it has completed its divestituture of certain 3.5-inch hard drive assets to Toshiba. WD sold the assets to Toshiba as part of a deal with regulatory agencies, for approval of the firm's acquisition of Viviti Technologies Ltd. (formerly Hitachi Global Storage Technologies). Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed. Western Digital also said that it has completed its acquisition of Toshiba Storage Device (Thailand) COmpany Limited), which--until the recent Thailand flooding--was engaged in hard drive manufacturing.
