Zadara Rolls Out On-Premise, Cloud Storage

In an interesting twist to the cloud storage market, Irvine-based Zadara Storage has rolled out a new product which gives companies cloud storage--but on their own premises. Zadara said it has rolled out a new product called VPSA On-Premise as a Service, which lets users deploy and pay for private cloud storage, hosted on their own property. The cloud storage provider said the new private cloud storage service provides a fully managed, enterprise SAN and NAS, all paid for using consumption-based pricing. Zadara said its storage is physically delivered to enterprises, colocation, and service providers, and operates much like public cloud services expect is all physically housed at a customer's data center. The solution is targeted at many, would-be cloud storage customers have been limited in how they can use the cloud, due to regulatory or physical security concerns. Pricing on the new service was not announced.
