ZEFR Lands $30M More

Venice-based ZEFR, which helps brands to better identify their fans on YouTube, said today that it has raised $30M in a new funding round. The funding was led by Institutional Venture Partners, and also included U.S. Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures, First Round Capital and Richmond Park Partners. As part of that funding, IVP's Dennis Phelps joins the company's board. ZEFR--led by Zach James--got its starts as movie clip site MovieClips.com, and has since shifted its focus to providing technology for social marketing via video, identifying YouTube fans for brands and content owners, as well as managing and protecting copyrights and helping content owners monetize "fan videos"--those videos which incorporate a brand's copyrighted content but have not explicitly received permission to use that content.
