3D Robotics Helps You Design Your Own, Personal Drone Aircraft
Looking for your own, personal drone aircraft? San Diego-based 3D Robotics, is looking to let anyone develop and operate their own personal, drone aircraft, and is currently selling parts, instructions, and more for hardware hackers to create their own remotely controlled unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The firm came to light last week when the editor of Wired Magazine, Chris Anderson, said he was leaving the magazine to work full time on 3D Robotics (which is doing business as DIY Drones). Drone aircraft have become a staple of the military, particularly in such locations as Afghanistan and Iraq; however, they've been costly and unavailable to civilians.
