Acacia Scores Patent Licensing Win
Newport Beach-based Acacia Research said today that media giant Thomson SA has licensed its portfolio of interactive television patents. Acacia, a patent holding company that has been aggressively seeking patent licensing agreements, said that Thomson has entered into an agreement with its subsidiary KY Data Systems. The patents cover receivers, set-top boxes, and televisions used in digital and satellite cable systems. Acacia said that the patents were part of those acquired from Global Patent Holdings and covers data transmitted with digital signals including sport scores, weather information, stock updates, and movie listings.
