Allegro Opthalmics Gets $2M From Leona Helmsley
San Juan Capistrano-based Allegro Opthalmics> said this morning that it has received a $2M grant from the The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. the company said the grant will help advance clinical studies of its compound for the treatment of diabetic macular edema. Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) is the leading cause of blindness in working age American diabetics, according to the company. Allegro Opthalmics is in the midst of Phase 2 studies, and recently raised a big round of funding from Hanmi Pharmaceutical.
