Amazon Invests $20M In Superplastic

Amazon and "synthetic celebrity" developer Superplastic said that Amazon has led a $20M investment round in Superplastic, and inked a deal with Culver City-based Amazon Studios for a new series. The funding also included Craft Ventures, Google Ventures, Galaxy Digital, Kering, Sony Japan, Scribble Ventures, Kakao, Animoca Brands, Day One Ventures, and Betaworks. Superplastic said it has now raised $58M in funding. According to the two, Amazon Studios will launch an animated comedy series featuring "synthetic celebrities" called "Janky" and "Guggimon".
