Amazon Studios To Continue Diversity Program With Howard University
Culver City-based Amazon Studios, the arm of Amazon which is focused on creating content for Amazon's streaming video service, says it is continuing a program it runs with Howard University, intended to help increase diversity in the entertainment industry. According to Amazon Studios and Howard University, the program is in its second year. The program is intended to create a pipeline for African-American students and other underrepresented populations to train and study alongside entertainment executives. Amazon said that applications for the program open on Monday, September 28th, with the program set to restart in January of 2021. The two said the two semester program offers Howard University students the opportunity to take academic courses during the spring semester and participate in a fellowship in the entertainment industry during the summer semester. Howard University, located in Washington D.C., is a historically Black university.
