Amgen To Open R&D Center In Shanghai
Thousand Oaks-based biotech Amgen has linked with a university in Shanghai, China, to open up a new R&D center. According to Amgen, it has entered into a strategic partnership with ShanghaiTech University, to open up a research and development center at the university's campus. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Amgen said expansion into China is a "business priority" for Amgen. Amgen's center will be co-located with ShanghaiTech's two life sciences institutes, the Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS) and the iHuman Institute. The new location is expected to be operational in 2014.
