Amonix Claims World Record Solar Efficiency
Concentrating photovoltaic solar power module developer Amonix, which is based in Seal Beach, is claiming that its CPV modules have achieved a world record in efficiency testing today. Amonix said that in testing at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the firm's modules had an outdoor efficiency rating of 34.9%, a world record for concentrating photovoltaic systems. The firm said its own testing has seen its modules convert more than 36% of direct sunlight into electricity. Amonix said it beat the former record with its modules. The former record was 33.5%, and also set by its concentrating photovoltaic solar power modules. Amonix is developing concentrating photovoltaic solar power systems being aimed at the utility scale market.
