BEASTMODE.FM's Galica Calls It Quits
One of the most promising of Silicon Beach's startup entrepreneurs, Matthias Galica, has called it quits--literally. Galica, in post to Silicon Beach's startup community via StartupDigest, said he has resigned from the startup world, departing his company BEASTMODE.FM and has quit helping to curate StartupDigest. Galica said he actually abandoned BEASTMODE.FM (and its predecessor, ShareSquare) in January. The move apparently comes as Galica is looking to overcome health problems. Galica posted rather candidly on the drug addiction problems he is facing, citing the pressures of startup life as one of the contributing factors. The stress inherent in startup life--and how to handle it--has come to the forefront of many in the community since the loss of EcoMom's Jody Sherman to suicide earlier this year. Galica did not say if BEASTMODE.FM, an online music streaming and discovery service, will continue without him.
