Blackhawk Network Buys EWI Holdings

Pleasanton-based Blackhawk Network, a provider of third party prepaid cards, said this morning that it has agreed to purchase San Diego-based EWI Holdings. EWI Holding is a provider of prepaid payment processing technology and services. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. EWI Holdings is backed by Darby Technology Ventures and National City Equity Partners. Blackhawk is a subsidiary of Safeway.
