Blogs Reach 50 Million Americans
comScore Networks released the results of study this week showing that 50 million Americans visited blog sites during the first quarter of 2005. The study, which analyzed the composition and activities of weblog audiences, found that 20 percent of the Internet population here in the United States, had visited a blog in Q2 of this year. That was 45 percent more than Q1 of 2004. The study also found that the most popular blogging topics were political blogs, followed by lifestyle blogs, tech blogs, and blogs authored by women. comScore reported that give hosting services for blogs each had more than 5 million unique visitors in Q1 of the year, and found four individual blogs with more than 1 million visitors each. comScore also said that it found that blog readers tend to connect to the web with high speed connections, are younger, and more likely to live in wealthier households.
