Boingo, Vonage Team on Wi-Fi
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless and Vonage announced this week that the two companies have teamed to co-market Vonage's SoftPhone service and Boingo's Wi-Fi services. The deal calls for Boingo customers to make phone calls from anywhere on Boingo's Wi-Fi network, through a phone available for computers running Windows and Mac OS operating systems. The companies said that it the combination of the Vonage service and Boingo's network will allow users to access the Vonage service from any Internet-connected PC from the thousands of airports, cafes, and hotels which Boingo maintains its wireless network. The service is expected to be available sometime this year, after the two companies conduct initial trials of the service.
