Broadcom Gets Chinese Android Smartphone Design Win
Irvine-based Broadcom announced a design win this morning with Chinese consumer electronics OEM G'Five, saying that the company is using its quad-core, HSPA+ smartphone platform for a new Android smartphone. Broadcom said that G'Five will use its platform for its WG5701 Android smartphone, which features a 5.7 inch HD display, 13MP camera, and other features. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Broadcom offers up a turnkey smartphone platform which lets manufacturers quickly design and produce their own Android phones.
