Broadcom Links With Philips On Gesture Controls
Irvine-based Broadcom yesterday said that it has linked with Philips Home Control on an effort to develop gesture-based remote controls. According to Broadcom, its Bluetooth technology is being used by Philips Home Control to enable remote controls which can control home entertainment with things like hand waves, finger swipes, or movements of a remote control. Broadcom said the two are demonstrating the gesture-based wireless remote controls at a trade show starting this weekend. The company said the addition of the gesture-based remote controls adds to the widespread adoption of Bluetooth, including in cell phones, laptops, 3D glasses, wireless headsets, and voice-over-IP connections
