Broadcom Ships Bluetooth Headset Chips
Irvine-based Broadcom has shipped a new chipset focused on Bluetooth audio, the firm said today. The new single-chip device is focused on the Bluetooth handset market, and according to Broadcom provides noise and echo suppression which significantly improves audio quality in mass-market headsets. Broadcom said the new chipset potentially reduces bill of materials costs by 40 percent, and is compatible with the firm's prior generation of chips. The new BCM2044S headset product are sampling to early access customers. Broadcom is a developer of a wide range of semiconductors designed into electronics products.
