Build It Green Seeks To Invest $26.8M In Energy Efficiency Efforts

Build It Green (BIG), a nonprofit working with the State of California's cap-and-trade program, says it is plans to invest $26.8M of funds from California's program to help upgrade homes with solar power and energy efficiency improvements in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. According to the nonprofit, it expects to use those funds to rehabilitate more than 5,500 single family homes in the poorest communities within those two regions, at no cost to those residents. Build It Green said homeowners and renters of single family homes in Los Angles, who live in qualifying census tracts, can check on upgrades at the Low Income Weatherization Program. Build It Green says it is seeking to help California's most disadvantaged communities, which it says suffer the most from the effects of climate change.
