Call of Duty Black Ops Hits $1B in Sales
Santa Monica-based Activision disclosed yesterday that Call of Duty: Black Ops has surpassed over $1 billion in sales worldwide. Activision said, according to its internal estimates, its sell through of the title since November 9, it has racked up over $1 billion in sales. The title had already broken sales records previously held by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Activision also said that over 600 million hours have been logged playing the game since launch. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick compared the sales milestone to the debut of "Avatar," saying that only the Call of Duty title and Avatar have hit a billion dollars in revenue so quickly.
