Cohu Buys Semiconductor Firm
Poway-based Cohu, Inc. said today that the firm's Delta Design subsidiary has agreed to acquire Rasco GmbH, a developer of semiconductor test equipment based in Munich, Germany. According to Cohu, it will pay $80M to Dover Corporation for Rasco, which designs and manufactures gravity-feed and strip semiconductor test handlers, used for final test operations by semiconductor manufacturers. Cohu said the buy will extend its leadership position in the IC test handler industry. Cohu said that Rasco had sales of approximately $47M for the twelve months ended November 2008. Cohu was advised by Needham & Company in the deal. Cohu's Delta Design subsidiary is a designer of IC test handling equipment; Cohu also has a number of other electronics-related manufacturing businesses.
