Crowdfunder Gets Broker-Dealer License
Santa Monica-based equity crowdfunding site Crowdfunder is making it easier for it to work with investors, saying on Monday that it has just received its broker-dealer license to sell securities directly to accredited investors. Crowdfunder said the move will help create a "more seamless solution" for its customers. The company says it had over 500 companies on its platform in 2016 receive approximately $173M in total reservations for funding. Crowdfunder is backed by such investors as Tim Draper (DFJ), Bill Quigley (Clearstone, Crypto Currency Partners), Bridge 37 Ventures, Ideas & Capital Venture Capital, Maura O'Neill, Capital Nuts, Marcus Segal (Zynga), Mark Rampolla (ZICO Coconut Water), David Wilner (Windriver Systems), and others.
