Demand Media Officially Becomes gTLD Registrar
Demand Media said today that the company's domain name subsidiary has entered the generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) market, and has been awarded the contracts necessary to participate as a registrar in the new market. According to Demand Media, its Domain Name Services business officially has become an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) accredited registry fro the new gTLDs, including both Demand Media's eNom and Name.com businesses. Demand Media's domain name businesses are run out of Kirkland, Washington, and Demand Media has been working to spin off those businesses into their own independent company.
