DogVacay.com Launches Marketplace For Dog Boarding
Ever wish there was a better place than that huge, impersonal kennel for your dog to stay on vacation? Well, Los Angeles-based Dog Vacay, a new person-to-person marketplace startup, is looking to help connect pet owners with other dog owners and pet sitters, who are willing to watch their pets when their owners are on vacation. The startup--founded by Karine Nissim Hirschhorn and Aaron Hirschhorn--helps dog owners connect with both professional pet-sitters and dog lovers, via an online marketplace. The new startup is backed by Science, Inc., the digital business studio and incubator headed by former MySpace CEO Mike Jones.
The husband and wife team of Karine Nissim Hirschhorn and Aaron Hirschhorn said DogVacay will qualify hosts with social media endorsement and user reviews, background checks, professional certifications, and more, and also provide insurance and medical care. The site also incorporates status updates via email or MMS of pets during a user's vacation, and allows pet sitters to set their own pricing and schedule. Aaron Hirschorn is a former venture capitalist, who has spent time at Monitor Ventures and GRP Partners.
