DroneBase Adds Solar Power Plant Assessment
Santa Monica-based DroneBase, a provider of aerial imaging, says it is launching a specific product that rates the status of solar plant assets. According to the company, it has rolled out a new "Solar Scan" system which provides a three-letter asset rating system to solar assets. The company said that its surveys use aerial photography and thermal scans to provide a three-letter asset rating to solar site condition, by assessing power loss, module condition and cell temperature. So far, DroneBase says it has scanned the entire state of California, representing 16 GW of solar plants and 20 percent of large-scale solar-generated power in the U.S, and it plans to have all U.S. solar plants 1 MW or larger by spring of 2023.
